Phone calls
What it does
Makes and receives phone calls and SMS via Twilio after you store Twilio credentials. The assistant can act as a receptionist, place a call on your behalf, and pull past call transcripts. This is your Twilio account, not an Aevum-hosted DID.
Setup
Twilio Account SID + Auth Token. Say “Set up phone calls.” The assistant walks provisioning a number on your Twilio account. Inbound voice can be TwiML Reject if you do not want it to answer. A2P registration is required to reach US cell phones once you leave Twilio trial.
Permissions
- Twilio credentials in the local vault.
- Outbound calls and SMS are sensitive. They ask first unless you wrote a trust rule.
- No host-desktop grant. Calls happen through Twilio.
Common prompts
| You say | What happens |
|---|---|
| “Call this number: 555-0123” | Outbound call via Twilio |
| “Set up a receptionist for my business line” | Inbound handling on the number you provisioned |
| “What calls came in today?” | Recent call history |
| “Get me the transcript from my last call” | Stored transcript |
| “Text Alice at 555-0142 that I am running late” | SMS, approval-gated |
Configuration
- Voice uses the TTS provider you configured (ElevenLabs, xAI, or another). There is no Cadence-metered voice SKU in 0.1.
- Call transcripts can be stored as conversation history.
- DTMF (keypad tones) is supported for phone menus.
Tips
- Guardian consultation: during a live call the assistant can ask you (the guardian) if it is unsure.
- Trial Twilio will not reliably reach US mobiles. Plan 10DLC Low-Volume Standard when you leave trial.
- See Channels.
