Hosting options
The assistant needs a computer. Which computer, and who manages it, is the hosting decision. In 0.1 there is one primary option: local on Linux. Cadence Cloud is not an Aevum product yet.
The three dimensions
- Ease of use. How much setup you own.
- Privacy. Where data lives, and what leaves the box.
- Security. How isolated the assistant is from the rest of the machine.
No option wins on all three. More convenient usually means trusting someone else. More private usually means you run it.
Local (0.1)
The assistant runs on your Linux machine. Workspace, memory, and config stay on disk. Nothing leaves unless you send it to a model provider you configured. Packed path: signed AppImage or deb from the home page. Detail: Local hosting.
Cadence Cloud (not offered)
Aevum does not host your assistant in 0.1. Do not sign up at a third-party Cadence Cloud and expect that to be us. Honest page: Cloud hosting.
Advanced / user-hosted remote
Docker, your own VM, GCP, AWS, a always-on mini PC: not a 0.1 product SKU. Some of that exists as power-user source in the tree. Honest leftover: Advanced options.
Which to choose
If you are installing today, choose local Linux. You want files on hardware you control, host tools after you grant them, and Hive or another BYO key. You accept “off when the laptop sleeps.”
Schedules and watchers run only while the assistant process is up. See Scheduling.
